Fabric Expansion Joints

General Information

Fabric expansion joints which produced in accordance with the conditions of working and ambient, damps the expansion and the vibration on the pipes and ducts. Thus, after the expansion joint, working line becomes longer lasting.

Because of flexible and lightweight features their storage, transport, assembly and disassembly costs are much cheaper than steel expansion joints.

According to the pipe line, from -50°C to +1200°C temperature, single or multi-layer expansion joints can be produce in circle, square, rectangular, conical, etc... structures with steel frame if requested.

EXPANSİON JOİNT STRUCTURES

Single Layer Expansion Joints:

Generally, the most suitable solutions for environments where low temperature and pressure exists. Produce from double side Teflon, silicone, etc. coated glass fiber fabrics. In thin layers of single-layer expansion joint application, in order to prevent leakage, 2-3mm glass fiber fabric is reinforced inside and outside at the flanges connections. In addition to providing a good seal in this way, the connecting elements prevents damage to the expansion joint flange.

Product Range:

Profan: Used in temperatures below 100°C, where the media is not aggresive
like heating and ventilation systems.

Chemflex: Double-side or one side PTFE-laminated glass fabric layered products is suitable for medias exposed to strong acids where temperature do not exceed 300°C

Multi-layer Expansion Joints:

The maximum temperature resistance of the composition including this four layers is 400°C, therefore for the high temperature operating conditions insulation bolster must be used.

1. Outer Layer: Protects expansion joints against external aggressors. Protects sealing layer from punctures.

2. Sealing layer: This layer serves as a heart of expansion joint and provides 100% seal against all kinds of fluid.

3.Insulation layer: In addition to protecting the sealing layer from high temperature, it helps to save energy by absorbing the high temperature that expansion joint exposed.

4. Insulation Bolster: Insulation bolsters are composed of a variety of natural fibers (glass, silicat). After produced according to the desired cross-section, must be coated with high mechanical strength fabrics. In addition, flange type isolation bolsters are made for large axial movements.

Product Range:

Multiflex: Suitable for air and chimney gas systems in power plants, gas
turbine plants, recycling plants, cement and paper factorys, ect. where
temperature do not exceed 1000°C

Armiflex: With steel bars and mesh wires found in, to provide stability, it is
suitable for medias which exposed to high pressure and high temperatures
like gas turbines, petro-chemical plants, cement factorys.

Foodex: Confirmed by US. FDA to use in food production process. Does not
release any particles which is harmful to health. Long time 200°C, short time
250°C temperature resistance.

Location and conditions of installation, Fluid, Particles , Temperature, Pressure, Leakage problems, Dew point, Outside conditions, Flow rate, Mechanical stress, Direction of movement

Movement Capability

Axial Compression/Extension
The dimensional shortening (compression) or lengthening (extension) of the expansion joint face-to-face dimension parallel to it’s longitudinal axis.

 

Lateral Movement
The amount of duct movement occurring in either or both of the two perpendicular planes to the longitudinal axis of the duct, which moves the expansion
joint flanges out of alignment.
Torsional Deflection
The amount of twisting movement occurring in the perpendicular planes to the longitudinal axis of the duct system.
Angular Deflection
The amount of rotation of the duct system which flexes the expansion joint flanges out of parallel position with each other.
